“Don’t Forget to Bring Your Umbrella”
One summer, a drought threatened the crop in a small town. On a hot and dry Sunday, the village spiritual leader told villagers, “There isn’t anything that will save us except to pray for rain. Go home, pray, believe, and come back next Sunday ready to thank God for sending rain.”
The people did as they were told and returned to the village the following Tuesday. But as soon as the spiritual leader saw them, he recognized the problem immediately. “We can’t worship today. You do not yet believe,” he said. “But,” they protested, “we prayed, and we do believe.” “Believe?” he responded. “Then where are your umbrellas?”
What metaphors can you apply to your life from this story? What would the creativity counterpart to the umbrella be in your search for a more creative life? Are you experiencing a dry spell, creatively speaking? What does the power of belief have to do with an outpouring of creative energy?

|Your Blogging Type is Pensive and Philosophical|
|You blog like no one else is reading…
You tend to use your blog to explore ideas – often in long winded prose.
Easy going and flexible, you tend to befriend other bloggers easily.
But if they disagree with once too much, you’ll pull them from your blogroll!
I have never pulled anyone from my blog roll or friends list but the rest of this quiz is pretty accurate (even though it only has a few questions).
And since it states I don’t share much personal info, here some of the latest:
I have been on any website, here, flickr, or my own sites lately because we have been moving. Now I remember why moving is listed as the third highest stressor know to mankind, right behind death and divorce. Because two of our four kids are now adults and living on their own we thought it a good idea to downsize, sell of crap, and pay some bills with the twelve years of equity we build up on our home. Well, we grieved a whole lot more than we thought we would over the old beat up house, the new house was TOO small and we may have down sized TOO much, and our oldest decided to come home for the summer from college and we already got rid of his room. Well he is staying with his dad (he’s my step son) and he stays out with his friends mostly anyway. The new house is beautiful but we are exhausted after full days at work and get to bed by around midnight before starting again at 6 the next morning. My phone took a long time to activate in the new house and still isn’t quite right and so haven’t been on the internet except for my wireless tablet from work.
See this is why I don’t write a bunch of personal stuff as it tends to sound whiney to me…anyway, we are taking off this weekend to the lake with all the kids (except my son who is in Chicago) and their friends. I didn’t get to spent Fathers Day with them so this is my belated and much needed present.
